Disinfectant sprayer and chemical fogging machine that cleaning companies are beginning to use.

Due to the recent pandemic, room fogger machines have become a pivotal part of the professional cleaners process. As we know, now more than ever, hygiene has become very important. Consequently, cleanliness has become crucial. So, to reduce the risk of infection, more frequent cleaning is recommended. Regardless if there has been confirmed case or not, deep cleaning and disinfecting to minimise the risk of transmission to other people.

Therefore, here at Steam Team, we take advantage of the benefits of room fogger machines to remove bacteria from all surfaces before a deep and comprehensive clean is carried out.

So, in this blog, we will discuss what a room fogger is and why Steam Team chose to use one.

What is ULV Room Fogger equipment?

ULV fogging equipment primarily used to treat disinfectants, biocides, fungicides and pesticides. Fogging machines work by generating a fog or mist formed of Ultra Low Volume (ULV) droplets which are between 5-50 microns (μm) in diameter. Overall studies have shown that droplets of this size are ideal for tackling pathogens and pests.

Microbes such as virus, fungi and bacteria are known to be one of the leading causes of airborne or direct contact diseases. Research and data show that aerosols and fogging significantly reduce the number of viable infectious pathogens, therefore making it one of the best practices for professional cleaners.

The reason why room foggers significantly reduce infectious particles is a result of foggers producing micro droplets that float in the air for around 10 minutes after application. These droplets reach the most inaccessible parts where conventional cleaning or spraying can’t reach. One of the most significant usages for foggers is killing bacteria and viruses. As a result, there has been a considerable spike in fogger machine usages recently.

Bacteria

Bacterias contribute to many illnesses and infections, regardless if they are foodborne, waterborne or in the air. These include diseases such as E-coli, MRSA, C. difficile, Campylobacter and Salmonella.

One of the most predominate reasons bacteria spreads is through Unhygienic food preparation, water storage and air conditioning systems. These can harvest as well as spread these bacterial diseases.

Moreover, bacteria such as MRSA and C. difficile are especially troublesome in hospitals, prisons and nursing homes. This is the result of the high number of patients with open wounds and weakened immune systems being at greater risk of infection.

Virus

Common viral infections include cold viruses, the flu, Norovirus and Rotavirus. An increasing concern due to a growing global population are animal or bird to human transmissions such as H1N1 (swine flu), and the H5N1 strain of bird flu. But also, the recent development of the coronavirus. Therefore, disinfection of surfaces using a fogger is essential to stop the spread of these infections.

How can a room fogger help me?

ULV foggers are a quick and easy solution for effectively disinfecting and sanitising rooms and other areas where bacteria and viruses may be present. Additionally, due to the fine fog being able to penetrate porous surfaces, room foggers can also be used for managing pest control and to deodorise smoke contaminated buildings.

Here at the Steam Team, we use the ULV 50 Room Fogger. This machine has a powerful 1200 Watt motor, providing fast and effective coverage of large areas, indoors and outdoors.
