Whether it is removing that wine stain made during Christmas festivities, or fluffing your carpet to look as good as it used to – we can help.

Removing Carpet Stains

Your glass of mulled wine all over the carpet? Your dog getting over-excited by all the visitors that Christmas brought? Relax – using these DIY remedies, all stains and smells can be removed… without hurting your wallet!

During this blog, step-by-step methods will be revealed on removing different stains. Whether it was your morning tea spilt, a glass of wine or your pet – your carpet will be pristine in no time. Instead of spending fortunes on branded stain removers, we believe in solving any carpet problem using natural, homemade remedies. Having read our advice, spillages shouldn’t seem such a hassle; next time you spill a cup of tea, you can spill it with the comfort of knowing exactly how to clean it up – and hopefully you can teach others, too!

Removing Tea Stains From your Carpet

Sometimes, all you need is a good cup of tea – especially when even your fluffy mitten gloves aren’t enough to keep you warm in the freezing temperatures of winter. Or, when you’re stuck in bed with the flu. But now that it’s spring, your carpets are still stained with tea. It might be a relief for you to know that you can quickly and easily remove them, following these simple steps…

Pour a cup of baking powder into a bowl

Apply baking powder to a damp towel and put pressure directly onto tea stain

Rinse the affected area with cold water & repeat as much as needed

Removing Pet Odours and Stains

Your pet is the cutest animal in the world – you’d do anything for them. Apart clean up their business. Pet stains are probably the most unappetising stain of all – however, with these tricks, clearing up pet pee doesn’t seem SO bad…

Blot up as much of the stain as possible. Place an old rag on it, and make sure to apply a lot of pressure – a heavy book should help. Put it on the stain and stand on it for even more pressure!
The fun part: mix two cups of white distilled vinegar with lukewarm water in a large bowl
Add 4 tablespoons of baking powder – however, if it fizzes (probably will), add it in smaller amounts
Pour into a spray bottle – or, if no spray bottle, pour mixture directly onto the stain – and wait 5 minutes

Red, Red Wine

Your Christmas get-together was going great until Aunt Rosy had a little too much Merlot and spilt it all over your white, pristine carpet. It’s now March, and that same stain is hiding underneath a floor lamp… but the lamp doesn’t cover it amazingly well, and it’s still there to take you back to that pungent, alcohol-filled night. Fear not – vinegar and dishwashing liquid will save your carpet!

Blot the stain, removing any wine that hasn’t yet been absorbed using a paper towel or a cloth
Pour two cups of warm water into a small bowl
Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar and one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid into small bowl
Dip sponge into bowl and apply directly onto wine stain
Continue blotting until stain has lifted

DIY Carpet Fresherner

Fresh cut grass. Daisies. Blooming sweet flowers. Earthly dampness. All the wonderful scents that spring fills the air with. But how does your home smell? Does last night’s curry still linger? Or does it smell as though you’ve walked into a room filled with white daisies? For a home where spring scents float through the air, read these steps on creating the perfect carpet freshener for spring!

Mix essential oil such as lavender with baking powder, allowing baking powder to absorb the oil
Store mixture in a glass container
During your spring clean, sprinkle flower dust a.k.a. the perfumed baking powder all over your carpet
Wait 5-10 minutes, and then hoover

Carpet Fluffing

After a long day at work, you’re finally able to take off your shoes and relax. Stepping out of your shoes and onto your carpeted floor; nothing beats the sense of comfort as your feet sink into a cushiony, soft carpet. But what if your carpet has lost all its luxury? It now has a dent and it doesn’t look great. You can’t enjoy the satisfying sensation of walking around your home barefoot, for the floor is uneven. However, following these quick, free steps will transform your carpet back to the fluffy, cushioned carpet it used to be.

Place ice cubes onto the dented-in spot and allow time to melt
Blot any excess moisture with a soft towel – however do not apply too much pressure to avoid any further dents!
Turn your iron on cotton setting, and ruin it back and forth on the towel
Once fibres feel almost dry, stop ironing and leave to air dry

Using these techniques should ensure a stain-free, daisy-smelling, fluffed carpet home, perfect for a spring visit from family and friends! To enjoy the season even more, decorate your home with tulips, daffodils and daisies, and leave your windows open to catch a beautiful spring breeze… bliss.
